Andersonville
Andersonville has three playgrounds and all three are worth a visit. Playgrounds in nearby Edgewater and Lincoln Square also greatly expand the play options.

Mellin Park - Playground ParkRenovated in 2013, this small playground features a swing set and a set of modern climbing elements. The swing set includes the standard swings: toddler, adaptive, and belt seat. The rest of the playground isn't a traditional play structure but is instead a collection of climbing elements made of metal and rope and a single curved slide. The play area is fully enclosed and features a soft rubber surface that is mounded and sculpted so that the surface itself is a play element. There are a number of nice amenities in this park as well including benches, a drinking fountain, and picnic tables under a large shade umbrella.

Cochran Park - Playground ParkThe small and shady playground in Cochran Park features toddler and belt seat swings, a medium sized play structure, two variations on monkey bars, and an overhead glider. The play area is fully enclosed with an artificial turf surface and is shaded by large and mature trees. There are a few benches around the perimeter of the park as well.

Andersonville Park - Playground ParkAndersonville Park offers and nice, shady playground with a large structure for older children and a variety of swings. The large play structure is two platforms connected by a variety of climbing and traversing elements along with a few slides. The swings - toddler, adaptive, belt seat, and tire - are located near the back of the playlot. The play area is fully enclosed and the surface is wood chips. This park is also deeply shaded by large trees and there are a few benches, low walls, and a picnic table for seating.
