Best Playgrounds for a Picnic
Most Chicago Parks would be wonderful sites for a picnic but here is a list of a few great spots with a focus on the north side of the city.
Edwin C. Berry Playground
The "green roof" of the marina parking lot just to the south of this playground features some truly excellent picnic tables.
Walsh Park - Playground
Two picnic tables but lots of quiet and shady areas nearby for a picnic blanket.
Dorothy's Playground at Oz Park
A few picnic tables near the entrance; lots of green space in the rest of the park.
Sunshine Playscape
Obviously, most of Lincoln Park is a great picnic destination.
Donahue Park - Playground
A few great picnic tables with shade umbrellas; good luck getting a seat at them though! Some area for a picnic blanket on the artificial turf field.
Winnemac Park - Playground
A few picnic tables in the play area with lots of green space in the rest of the park.
Peterson Park - Playground
A ton of picnic tables near the play area.
Indian Road Park - Playground
I avoid making references to businesses on this site, but a Superdawg picnic in this park on a nice summer evening is close to perfection.
Wildwood Park - Playground
A few tables in a quiet and shady park.
