Rogers Park
The Rogers Park neighborhood boasts 12 playgrounds! The four lakefront playgrounds are great summer destinations.

White (Willye) Park - PlaygroundThis playground features two unique rope traverse elements, a large play structure for older children, and smaller structure one for younger children in a separate area, and a few swings. The play area is bright and sunny and there are a few benches overlooking the play areas that are covered in wood chips.

Washington (Harold) Memorial Park - Playground ParkThis tiny playground is tucked between two large buildings and features equipment designed for younger children. The main play structure is accessible via a ramp a features a variety of slides and climbing elements. There is a swing set in the back of the playground with the standard offering of swings. There are a few benches and a picnic table in the fully enclosed play space (with a soft rubberized surface). This playground also features a very unique play caterpillar.

Touhy Park - PlaygroundThe Touhy Park playground is located in the northeast corner of the park near the intersection of Jarvis and Paulina. There is an old and well-loved playground over a surface of wood chips nearest that corner. Further south, there is a modern playground over a soft rubberized surface featuring a small play structure for younger children, a large set of connected elements for older children, and swings. There are benches and picnic tables in an area shaded by large trees and near the park building.

Schreiber Park - PlaygroundSchreiber Park is a small neighborhood park with a fieldhouse, water spray feature, and playground. The playground features a large and accessible structure for older children and a smaller structure for younger children. There are a few standalone elements and the standard Chicago Park selection of swings (toddler, adaptive, and belt seat). The water spray feature is a triple shower sprayer. The setting is nice with some grassy areas and large trees. The non-play amenities are also nice; the surface is soft rubber and there are a few benches and a drinking fountain near the play area. The fieldhouse should provide access to a bathroom (when open). All in all, this is a great playground.

Pottawattomie Park - PlaygroundThe playground at Pottawattamie Park is very large and features a water spray feature, an area for younger children, and a separate area for older children. The water spray feature is shaped like two flowers and provides an overhead flow of water. The area of young children features a few elements attached to a large play structure as well as a few toddler swings. The area for older children features a variety of connected elements that can be climbed or traversed as well as standard belt swings and a large tire swing. The play surfaces are mainly wood chips and there a few benches and large trees dotting the playground.

Paschen Park - PlaygroundThe playground at Paschen Park is a great neighborhood playground. This playground offers a separate area for smaller children (including a sand area) and a large area for older children featuring a large play structure with several climbing and traversing elements. The main surface is wood chips and there are a few benches scattered around the play area. The playground is shaded by large trees and is adjacent to a large grassy area.

Matanky Park - PlaygroundMatanky Park is a small neighborhood park that features a decent playground with a variety of playground equipment. There is a large play structure for older children, a few connected elements, and a single toddler swing and a single belt seat swing. The play area is wood chips though there is a corner sandbox. There are benches built into the perimeter of the enclosed and heavily shaded play space.

Loyola Park - PlaygroundThe Loyola Park playground is a large playground directly next to the Loyola Park Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. It features a large play structure for older children and a smaller structure for younger children. Unique elements of this playground include a large, metal fish suitable for climbing, an array of musical instruments, and a parent/child swing. The play surface is wood chips though the sandy beach is steps away. There are a few benches nearby and a few trees for shade though the location is quite sunny most of the day. This is a unique playground with great views of Lake Michigan.

Leone Beach Park - PlaygroundThis small playground is on the western side of Leone Beach Park and just north of the much larger Loyola Park (which also features a playground). This playground features a large play structure for older children and a smaller structure for younger children in addition to the standard variety of swings. There is also a unique single mast climbing net structure. The play surface is wood chips and the area is mostly enclosed. There are a few benches and large trees in the immediate area.

Lazarus Park - Playground ParkThis small pocket park in the Roger's Park neighborhood seems well-loved by the community and contains a large play structure for older kids as well as a smaller structure for younger kids and a few toddler swings. Situated in the middle of the block between two buildings, several large trees offer some shade throughout the day and there are a few benches and picnic tables for seating. The play area is fully enclosed and the play surface is wood chips.

Langdon Park - PlaygroundLangdon Park is a moderately sized neighborhood park with two play structures from the Kompan playground company. There is a large structure for older children and a slightly smaller structure for younger children as well as a set of swings. The setting for this park is nice; on a quiet residential street near the Metra tracks make for a quintessential Chicago Park setting. The non-play amenities are standard; there are a few benches and a drinking fountain in the fully enclosed play area with a play surface of wood chips. This is a good park with some unique equipment; highly recommend.
It's also interesting to note that Rogers Park (the park) is not in Rogers Park (the neighborhood); the park is actually in neighboring West Ridge.
